The client’s objective

Complete a targeted clearance of the agreed areas within the 15-acre site, removing mixed waste, tyres, scrap metal and general litter, and leave the cleared areas ready for the client's next stage.

The existing site

A targeted clearance across part of a 15-acre site in Chiswell Green, St Albans. The scope covered mixed waste removal, tyre collection, scrap metal recovery, grab-lorry loads and litter picking. Asbestos removal was carried out by others under a separate arrangement.

What mattered on this project

The site covered 15 acres; the clearance was targeted to the agreed areas rather than the full site. Multiple waste streams — mixed waste, tyres, scrap metal and general litter — required separate collection and removal arrangements. Asbestos removal was outside the Demo Squad scope and was arranged separately by others.

Our approach

The clearance was organised around the different waste streams. Mixed waste was removed in two 12-yard skips. Five grab-lorry loads removed the bulk material. Seventy-six tyres of assorted types were collected and removed. Two tonnes of scrap metal were recovered. Litter picking was completed across the agreed areas. Asbestos removal was carried out by others under a separate arrangement and did not form part of the Demo Squad scope.
