Why This Bathroom Removal Was Needed
Unlike a standard bathroom demolition, this project involved working within a listed heritage property where certain elements had to be retained and protected. All removal works were completed in accordance with the planning documentation to preserve the historic fabric of the building.
Particular care was required when lifting the original timber floorboards so they could be reused following floor levelling works, while traditional lath and plaster construction demanded a controlled removal process to minimise unnecessary damage.

Our Approach
Before work commenced, the scope was reviewed against the planning requirements for the listed building to ensure only approved elements were removed.
The heavy cast iron bath was removed safely without damaging surrounding finishes, while the original timber floorboards were carefully lifted and stored for reuse following floor levelling. Traditional lath and plaster was removed using controlled methods to reduce unnecessary disturbance and leave clean structural surfaces ready for the renovation team.
All waste was removed from site, leaving the bathroom ready for the next stage of refurbishment.
Outcome
The bathroom was successfully stripped back in accordance with the listed building requirements, allowing the renovation programme to continue while preserving reusable historic materials. The property was left clean, safe and ready for floor levelling and the installation of the new bathroom.
